STAR WARS at Planet
Comicon
Its no secret -- the
Star Wars Universe plays a big part at Planet Comicon and Star Wars fans
are abundant. Each year Star Wars fandom at Planet Comicon grows. This
year may be the biggest yet as we have several big Star Wars guests
appearing including one of the biggest stars of Empire Strikes Back and
Return of the Jedi -- the original Lando Calrissian: Billy Dee Williams, and the
the young Anakin Skywalker from Phantom Menace: Jake Lloyd, among
other guests.
As with the last few years, at least two Star Wars fan clubs will be present at the show.
So far we have confirmed the appearance of the 70th Explorers Garrison of the 501st Legion
and the Rebel Legion. More groups may attend. There will
be many members in variety of Star Wars related costumes -- Storm Troopers, Boba Fett, Tusken Raiders, Darth Vader, members of the Rebel Alliance and
other characters. The R2-Central Builders Club will have several droids on display
(I will try to get a list). Artist Darryl Woods will be with the
501st. He specializes in Star
Wars art and will draw fans into their favorite Star Wars character. Bring your cameras, as these costumed characters will pose for pictures
with you and your kids!

COSTUMING AT PLANET COMICON!
The costuming element of Planet Comicon is growing.
Many costumed attendees could be seen wandering the hall in 2009 & 2010,
including Supergirl, Catwoman, Iron Man, Alien Warrior, many, many Star Wars characters and more.
In 2011 even MORE people came out in costume and we had our first costume contest. Response was much
stronger than expected and our 1st-time preparations were overwhelmed by
the demand. We just did not set aside enough space or time for the
event. This year we are EXPANDING the
Costume Contest to
the MAIN STAGE in the Atrium Panel Room .
The Costume Contest will be
held at 4PM on Saturday March 24. We will have at least 2 and maybe 3
categories PLUS CASH prizes.
Feel free to attend Planet Comicon in costume, even if you do not take
part in the costume contest. Indeed, we encourage you to do so.
We will have a "photo-op" area in the main hall. Many costumed
characters will pose for photos, including photos with fans. Bring
your cameras! Fans are welcome to pose with the characters,
just ask politely first and most costumed folks will glad to accommodate! After
all, that is part of the reason for dressing up.
Make yourself a great
costume and come on out to the show!

board and card games in the Gamer's Haven Games
Library. You can come check out games like Talisman,
Kill Doctor Lucky, Munchkin, Gammarauders, and Apples
to Apples. The games are free to check out and play in
the designated game area, which will be open to all paid
attendees of Planet Comicon! These games are provided
exclusively by the Gamer's Haven and KantCon, a
tabletop gaming convention held in the Kansas City area
in July. More information on KantCon may be found at

Helpful Convention FAQ
Convention assistant Justin Cline has created a page with some helpful convention hints -- Suggestions that might make
your convention experience a bit more smooth and enjoyable. Check it out at this link
Justin Cline's Conventional Wisdom
The one thing that I would emphasize is that everything is easier at the event with cash. Even the admission at the front will be
quicker if you bring cash rather than using a credit or debit card. Many vendors and guests do not accept credit or debit cards.
