Chris Sprouse has been drawing
comics professionally since 1989, pencilling
Legionnaires, Batman and Justice
League books for DC Comics in the early
'90's, followed by some Marvel work on various
Spider-Man and X-Men titles. In
1995, Chris drew the Dark Horse Comics
adaptation of the Star Wars novel Splinter of
the Mind's Eye, then went on to provide art
for various Image comics and trading cards. 1997
saw the artist teaming with legendary comics
writer Alan Moore for the first time on a
six-issue run of Supreme and with Warren
Ellis and Kevin Nowlan on the WildC.A.T.S./Aliens
one-shot comic. Moore and Sprouse reunited to
create the character/comic book series Tom
Strong that same year for ABC Comics/Wildstorm
Productions. Tom Strong ran for 36 issues
(plus a few specials) and has been published in
several languages throughout Europe and the UK
over the last decade. In 2004, Chris designed
and drew the original graphic novel Ocean
for writer Warren Ellis. A brief run on
Wildstorm's Midnighter series was next,
followed by the mini-series Number of the
Beast in 2007-2008. In 2008, Chris was the
subject of Volume 21 of Two Morrows
Publications' Modern Masters series. The artist
spent 2009 drawing a new Tom Strong mini-series,
Tom Strong and the Robots of Doom
(scheduled for publication in Spring/Summer
2010) and rang in the new year drawing the first
issue of Grant Morrison's Batman: The Return
of Bruce Wayne mini-series. Chris currently
lives in Ohio and is about to begin work on
another new Tom Strong mini-series for Wildstorm
Productions/DC Comics.
